Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress effectively all higher harmonic by forming the piezoelectric plate of a piezoelectric vibrator into a rectangle and by setting the ratio of the long side to the short side to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric plate 11 is formed into a rectangle, and the ratio of length (a) of the long side to length (b) of the short side is set to b/a 0.7-0.98. When line A, line B, line C, line D, and line E are shown as frequency 455KHz of fundamental vibration, tertiary higher harmonic 1.2MHz, fifth-degree higher harmonic 2.0MHz, outline vibration 650kHz, and bending vibration 300kHz respectively on the graph where side ratio b/a above is the horizontal axis and ratio dB of the antiresonance resistance to the resonance resistance is the vertical axis, almost all spurious vibration is suppressed effectively for side ratio b/a of approximately 0.7- 0.98. Consequently, all higher harmonic can be suppressed effectively by using the piezoelectric plzte having this side ratio.
