Abstract

PURPOSE: To promptly separate a sealing oil from liquid medium with high separation efficiency, by perfoming a two-stage separating operation, i.e., in the first stage, condensing and separating out the sealing oil only, and in the second stage filtering off only the liquid medium from a liquid condensate of a medium gas.
CONSTITUTION: Oil leaked out from a sealing portion 1b and medium escaped through a labyrinth packing 1a are combined in a pressure-equilibrating chamber 1c into a gas mixture, which is then led via a valve 4 and orifice 5 to an oil condenser 6 where only its oil fractions are condensed into a liquid by cooling water 6a. Thereafter, resulting liquid oil and vaporous medium are guided into an oil/vapour separator 7. The oil flows down into an oil reservoir 9, while the vaporous medium passes through a metallic net 7a of the oil/vapour separator 7 and then guided into a condenser 13 for the medium via an orifice 11 and valve 12. Any uncondensed oil vapour sticks the metallic net 7a and then drips into the oil reservoir 9. The vaporous medium is condensed into liquid medium by means of a tube 13a through which cooling water runs. Any liquid medium having a specific gravity higher than the liquid oil passes through a filter 14 installed in a lower portion of the condenser 13 and is accumulated in the bottom of the condenser 13. The thus-accumulated medium is then led into a tank 16 for the medium by opening a valve 15.
