Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert hydrogen sulfide to sulfur dioxide completely at a comparatively low temperature by supporting chromium trioxide, cupric oxide and nickel monoxide on aluminum oxide as a catalyst for the complete oxidation of hydrogen sulfide.
CONSTITUTION: Chromium trioxide, cupric oxide and nickel monoxide are supported by an aluminum oxide support to obtain a catalyst for the complete oxidation of hydrogen sulfide. The catalyst thus obtained, which is capable of compeltely converting hydrogen sulfide into sulfur dioxide even at a comparatively low temperature of approx. 150°C, is excellent catalyst whose activity is not lowered after being used in reaction for a long length of time.
