Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve leak resistance by applying an anticorrosion coating onto the sealing part of the negative electrode current collector which has been treated with a reducing gas to generate metal copper thereon. CONSTITUTION:In a positive electrode container 1 are filled positive electrode mix 2, separator 3, and absorbent 4 holding alkaline electrolyte. To the opening of the positive electrode container 1 is fitted a flat negative electrode current collector 7 filled with a negative electrode 6 composed mainly of zinc powder, with a polyamide gascket 5 inserted between the container 1 and the current collector 7. After sealing the fitting part, a button-shaped battery is formed. The current collector 7 is a stainless steel substrate with an internal copper layer 9 and an external nickel layer 10 coated thereon. That part of the copper layer 9 which comes in contact with the sealing part is subjected to reduction treatment with a gas containing a reducing gas such as hydrogen and then coated with an anticorrosion film 11 of benzotriazole and, preferably, with a liguid packing 13 such as silicone resin.
