Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain automobile gasoline having good stability, by hydrogenating thermally cracked gasoline with H2S-containing hydrogen in the presence of a palladium sulfide catalyst to hydrogenate conjugated diolefins and styrene selectively.
CONSTITUTION: Thermally cracked gasoline is hydrogenated with hydrogen contain ing 50W500 mole ppm of H2S in the presence of a sulfurized catalyst with an S content of 0.1W1.0 wt.% and a CO chemical adsorption by the active metal of 20W 80 cc/g of Pd, which is prepared by preliminarily sulfurizing a Pd catalyst having a total pore volume of 0.4W1.0 cc/g and a B.E.T. surface area of 50W200 m2/g with a hydrogen containing 100W300 mole ppm of H2S or naphtha containing 30W100 weight ppm calculated as S of one or more types of S compounds selected from CS2, mercaptans, or sulfides, at 70W150°C and 10W80 Kg/cm2. Thus, conjugated diolefins and alkeny aromatic hydrocarbons are selectively hydrogenated to give olefins and alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons.
