Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance filter treatment capacity through uniform deposition of precoat material by a method wherein a straightner mechanism is provided to a filter element group deposited with precoat material, and plural stage distribution plates are installed between the mechanism and raw water inlet, in a vertical filter unit.
CONSTITUTION: Container 1 has, its lower part, an inlet 2 for raw water to be treated and a drain outlet 3; at intermediate part, plural number of vertically installed filter elements 5; and, below the elements, are grid type straightner mechanism 6. Between the raw water inlet 2 and the straightner mechanism 6, are provided distributor plates 7W9 having small holes. Raw water containing precoat material such as powder resin is flowed from the inlet 2, is rectified by the grid 6, guided to filter elements 5 to uniformly coat the elements 5 with precoat material, and filtered water is discharged from the outlet 4. Thus, raw water is given a uniform flow rate by the plates 7W9, is regularly rectified by grid 6, and is guided to the filter elements 5, so total and uniform deposition of precoat material is achieved and raw water capacity is increased.
