Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of a crystal vibrator by connecting electrodes, which are arranged on a vibration arm, so that they may have a prescribed relation. CONSTITUTION:When the length of the vibration arm of a crystal vibrator is l, the effective electric field direction is inverted from a part 0.6l to 0.85l away from the tip of the vibration arm. For example, when electrode 19a which is arranged on the tip side circumference part of one vibration arm 18a, electrode 19b which is arranged at the base side center of vibration arm 18a, electrode 19g which is arranged at the tip side center of the other vibration arm 18b, and electrode 19h which is arranged on the base side circumference part of vibration arm 18a are connected electrically, vibrator 18 is excited by the secondary higher harmonic to obtain a six-time frequency. Consequently, the frequency of an approximately 200K Hz can be obtained and a logical high and low-speed means can be used, so that output signals having a desired period can be obtained even if the frequecy adjustment service of the vibrator itself is not omitted at all, and the cost of the vibrator can be reduced.
