Abstract
PURPOSE: To impart excellent water absorptivity, hygroscopicity and moisture permeability to the surface of a sheet material such as artificial leather, by coating the sheet material with a mixture prepared by adding a crack-forming material and a resin binder to a thermoplastic particulate polymer including a liquid inflating agent.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet material is coated with a mixture prepared by adding a resin binder and a crack-forming material which cracks the coated film of the resin binder without rupturing the polymer particles, to a thermoplastic particulate polymer, having 1W100μ average particle diameter, including a liquid inflating agent which gasifies at a temperature below the softening point of the polymer. Examples of the liquid inflating agent which can be used include propane, butane and hexane. The crack-forming material, for example, in case of a polyurethane solution, includes a compound which reduces the stability of the resin binder, such as a poor solvent for the polyurethane, or a resin having poor compatibility with the resin contained in the resin binder, such as cellulose.
