Abstract

PURPOSE: To considerably reduce the time from sampling up to analysis works by taking the molten steel sample in a converter into the probe paper tube at the end of a sub-lance, cutting the paper tube, drawing out the same, correcting the diameter to roughly the same, remove the deposited impurities and pneumatic transporting this to analysis chamber.
CONSTITUTION: The probe paper tube 3 mounted to a sublance 2 is inserted into the molten steel in the converter and molten steel sample 4 is taken into a sample chamber 5. With the paper tube 3 being supported by a clamp, it is cut by saw teeth and the portion 3b containing the sample 4 is retreated up to the sample take-out position, after which it is changed from vertical posture to horizontal posture and the sample 4 is pushed by a pusher 17 into the receiving hole 23 of a device 18. Next, the protrusions at the sample end remaining in the sprue 6 are corrected to approximately the same diameter by a taper surface 22 and the deposited inpurities are blown off by the high- velocity air from a high-velocity air jet orifice 25 and nozzle 26. Next, the device 18 is turned about a pivotal axis 19 and is stopped when it aligns to the same axial line as the receiving port 28 of a pneumatic feeder, thence the sample 4 is fed into a pneumatic feed pipe 30 by a pusher 21 and high-pressure air is fed through an inlet 32. The sample is pneumatic transported into the analysis chamber by the pressure thereof.
