Abstract
PURPOSE:To neatly cut foamed metal by blowing respectively the specified amounts of O2 gas and shielding gas and performing cutting at the time of cutting the foamed metal by the use of a laser. CONSTITUTION:At the time of cutting the work 1 being foamed metal by using a laser 3, O2 gas 4 is flowed at a ration of 24-52l/min. and shielding gas 7 such as CO2, Ar, N2 or He at 6-15l/min. In this case, the shielding gas 7 is blown from the back and side faces of the work 1 as back shielding gas or it is mixed with the O2 gas 4 to shield the cutting surfaces, whereby spherical burning-up at the cutting of the foamed metal is prevented and the cut surfaces that can be subjected to practicable use may be obtained.
