Abstract
PURPOSE:To decide the slag forming ratio of a molten slag rapidly as well as easily by a method wherein a sub-lance equipped with an electrode made from Mo or Fe is inserted into a molten slag of an oxygen blowing up converter to measure the electric resistance of a molten slag. CONSTITUTION:Two electrodes 2a, 2b made from Mo of which a diameter is 2mm and a length is 10mm are attached to a bottom surface 1a or a side surface of a paper cylinder 1 with a bottom at a distance of 10mm. Fe may be used in place of Mo. The lead wires 3a, 3b of two electrode 2a, 2b is withdrawn to the furnace exterior through a paper cylinder 1 and connected to a vacuum voltameter 4 and a millivoltameter 5 to measure the electric resistance of a molten slag. Because a significantly high mutyal relation is present between the electric resistance of a molten slag and the slag forming ratio of a molten slag, the slag forming ratio is rapidly decided by the measured resistance value. But, this method can be only utilized when a C ontent of a molten steel is below 0.15%.
