Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate unloading and reduce transportation cost by a method wherein a pulverized-coal slurry loaded in ship's holds is kept still for a required time period for separation into a lower stacked coarse-coal layer and an upper stacked fine-coal layer, the upper layer is fed into an exclusive compartment, leaving only the lower layer in the holds, and the lower layer is transported while being dehydrated.

CONSTITUTION: A pulverized slurried coal transported from a coal mining place is filled in holds 1, and kept still for a required time period for separation into a lower coarse-coal layer and an upper fine-coal layer. In this condition, discharge ports 5 are opened, the fine-coal slurry of the upper layer is flowed out of the holds 1 through the ports, flowed down the outside surfaces of lateral bulkheads 2, reserved in the lower portions of the exterior of lower slanted walls 7, and fed into a slurry transport compartment 3a through a delivery pipe 8; thus, only the lower layer is left in the holds 1. The lower layer is dehydrated to solidify the ocarse coal during transportation, so that it can be unloaded by grab work at the unloading site.
