Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a small-sized light-weight power steering gear by a method wherein a portion of a pair of meshed gears is cut off, two cut-off portions are faced to two hydraulic chambers respectively, and a hydraulic fluid is selectively introduced according to rotational displacement of an input shaft.
CONSTITUTION: Interlocked with a rotation of a steering wheel 2a, a port 1a or 1c of change-over valve 1 is connected to fluid circuits 11W14; a hydraulic fluid is fed into the first hydraulic chamber 9 or the second hydraulic chamber 10 according as the port 1a is connected or the port 1c is connected. A boosting mechanism 4 rotates gears 5, 7 in the sense of arrow A or B according as the hydraulic fluid is fed into the chamber 9 or 10. Therefore, the turning force of an input shaft 2 is transmitted to the gears 5, 7 interlocked therewith, and a steering force is transmitted to veering wheels through an output shaft 6 and a link mechanism.
