Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Derivatives of carboxylic acid ester of formula I (X is O or methylene; R1 is Hormethyl; R2 is C1W6 lower alkylene, lower alkenyl, haloalkyl, haloalkenyl, etc., or R1 and R2 may together form e.g. tetramethylene, provided that X is O when both R1 and R2 are methyl groups; R3 is H, cyano, or trifluoromethyl).
USE: Insecticides. Useful for the prevention of house vermin (e.g. mosquitos, flies, etc.), agricultural vermin (e.g. leaf hoppers, etc.), vermin of stored crops (e.g. rice weevils), ticks, etc. Low toxicity, low-cost and high stability to light.
PROCESS: A compound of formula I is obtained by the reaction of a carboxylic acid of formula II or its reactive derivative with an alcohol of formula III or its reactive derivative.
