Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the magnetic permeability of electron beam welded part below the specified value, by effectively feeding filler metals for adjustment of Ni equivalent and Cr equivalent, in electron beam welding of austenitic stainless steel.
CONSTITUTION: As the filler metal for adjustment of Ni equivalent (%Ni+30× %C+0.5×%Mn) and Cr equivalent (%Cr+%Mo+1.5×%Si+0.5×%Nb), a face strip 2 is put on a base metal 1, and is welded by electron beam 3 to obtain an electron beam welded part 4. Suppose the equivalent composition of base metal is point 5, and equivalent composition of face strip 2 point 6, then point 7 which is equivalent composition of the welded part 4 is determined by the dilution percentage of the face strip 2. In other words, the position of point 7 corresponding to the equivalent composition of the welded part 4 can be adjusted by the position of point 6 corresponding to the equivalent composition of the face strip 2 and dilution percentage of the face strip 2. Therefore, the ferrite quantity of only the welded part 4, that is, the magnetic permeability, is adjusted to be less than the specified value.
