Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve energy saving and improve reliability by installing a plurality of power generating facilities, each consisting of a relatively small capacity diesel engine and a generator, and making it possible to operate series and parallel switching of the power generating facilities and to adjust the number of units in accordance with the load.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of a heavy load, such as at the starting of the engine, a series switch S is opened and parallel switches P1, P2 are closed, and thereby engines E1, E2 and generators G1, G2 are connected in parallel and electricity is supplied to motor M. After completion of acceleration, set the voltage of generator G1 or G2 at 0, open switch P2 or P1, close switch S, and then, open switch P1 or P2. Then, generators G1, G2 are connected in series.
