Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve gasification and atomization of injected fuel by arranging an injection nozzle into an intake manifold so that the direction of injection is set parallel to the standard surface which involves the center of the opening on the combustion chamber side of an intake port and the center axis of a cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: One end 2a on the downstream side of an intake port 2 is opened to the combustion chamber 6 formed in a cylinder head 3. The other end 2b on the upstream side is opened on the cylinder head side surface 3a which crosses at right angle with the standard surface which involves the center point (m) of the opening 2a described above and the center axis l of a cylinder 4. The opening 2b is formed closer to the one side of the two spaces which are divided by the standard surface (x). Onto the intake manifold 1 in the vicinity of the opening 2b, a jet nozzle 12 is installed, and the direction (B) of injection is set parallel to the standard surface (x), and the angle of inclination is set towards the center of opening 2a of an intake port 2.
