Abstract

PURPOSE: To conduct an accurate pressure resistance test on the entire surface of the side plate of a storage tank, by dividing the side plate of the tank into an upper and a lower parts and conducting separate water pressure tests on the upper and the lower parts.
CONSTITUTION: A storage tank bottom plate 10 having an annular wall 11 on the top of the peripheral part of the plate is secured. The upper part 12a of a tank side plate is watertightly set up on the wall 11. The top opening of the upper part 12a is hermetically covered with a roof 13. A storage tank is thus halfly completed. Testing water is filled in the tank to conduct a pressure resistance test on the upper part 12a. At that time, the pressure distribution P1' of the testing water is larger than that P2 of finally filled liquid due to the specific gravity difference between the water and the liquid. The water is then drained out of the halfly completed storage tank. The upper part 12a is cut off the wall 11 and lifted and held at a prescribed height. The lower part 12b of the side plate is interposed between the wall 11 and the upper part 12a so that the storage tank T is completed. Testing water is injected into the tank up to a level WL2 around the middle of the upper part 12a to conduct a pressure resistance test.
