Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a strip piece with hollow connection part and fully-sealed looks by employing a split core die in a specified shape which can be taken out after completion of forming, in the method wherein a hollow connection member is formed between continuously-formed hollow members, both being joined concurrently.
CONSTITUTION: In the method for connecting hollow sealed strip pieces to be used as sealing material for a side rim of the door of an automobile, first a split core die 9 composed of an escape part 7 consisting of a tail part 5 and a conical part 6 and of a holding part 8 is prepared and then a continuously-formed hollow member 1 formed beforehand is set on the holding part 8 of the split core die, 9 the tail part 5 thereof being gotten out from a small hole 17. Next this split core die 9 is set in a metal mold 15 and unvulcanized rubber is filled in a vacant space 19, thereby a hollow connection member being formed and two pieces of a continuously-formed hollow member 1 being jointed simultaneously. Lastly, after vulcanization, a formed article is taken out form the metal mold and then the split core die 9 is drawn out through the small hole 17, thus the article turning to be hollow.
