Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate machining of a engine block and to make the structure of the engine block compact, by arranging various parts of lubricating system in a cap for covering an operation opening formed in the engine block. CONSTITUTION:Various parts of lubricating system such as an oil filter 21, an oil level gauge 24 and a union pump 26 are arranged in a cap 18 which is attached, in freely detachable manner, to the engine block 7 by the intermediary of sealing member 19. An opening 17, formed in the engine block 7 and covered by the cap 18, is used for inspection and changing of piston rings 12, removement of a connecting rod 9, and for other operation.
