Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a car bumper with superior strength, corrosion resistance and surface brightness by clad-rolling an Al-Zn-Mg alloy as a core material and an Al-Mg alloy as a shell material. CONSTITUTION:A car bumper is manufactured using an Al alloy clad. As the core material of the clad an Al alloy is used contg. Zn 3-7%, Mg 0.7-2.7% and a specified small amt. of one or more out of Zr, Mn, Cr, Ti, Cu and V. As the shell material an Al alloy is used contg. Mg 0.3-3%, a specified small amt. of one or more out of Cu, Mn and Ti, and Fe+Si<=0.25%. The core material and the shell material are clad-rolled at a shell mateial cladding rate of 1-20% and a temp. of 400 deg.C or above. The resulting bumper has enough strength, corrosion resistance and brightness required for a bumper.
