Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide high X-ray stopping power to a glass compsn. for a color TV Braun tube, etc.; inhibit the discoloration of the compsn.; facilitate the molding; and reduce the cost by using PbO-free glass having a specified compsn., a specified X-ray absorption coefficient and a specified thermal expansion coefficient.
CONSTITUTION: A PbO-free glass compsn. for a cathode-ray tube consists of, by wt., SiO2 50W65%, AlO3 0W3%, MgO 0W6%, CaO 0W6%, SrO 0W10%, BaO 0W15%, ZrO2 5W15%, Li2O 0W3%, Na2O 5W16%, K2O 0W10%, TiO2 0W1%, CeO2 0.1W1.6% and As2O3 or Sb2O3 0.1W1.5% and satisfies SiO2+Al2O3+ ZrO2= 60W75%, MgO+CaO≤6%, 0.5BaO+SrO+Zr2O3≥15% and Li2O+Na2O+K2O= 13W20%. This glass has an X-ray absorption coefficient of 25cm-1 or more at 0.6Å wavelength and an average thermal expansion coefficient of 90W110-7cm/cm.°C at 50W350°C. Thus, superior performance is obtd. with the effective range of each component.
