Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve fire retardance and water resistance, and to enable regeneration, by a method wherein fiber webs with 50-400g/m<2> weight comprising a specified proportion of modacrylic fiber are bonded by a specified quantity of vinyl chloride-ethylene-vinyl acetate ternary copolymer resin. CONSTITUTION:An air filter is formed in such a manner that round webs with 50-400g/m2 weight comprising 30-90wt% of modacrylic fiber 1 with excellent flame-proofness and 10-70wt% of fire-retardant polyester fiber 2 are mutually bonded by the dispersion, immersion, coating or the like of an emulsion of vinyl chloride-ethylene-vinyl acetate ternary copolymer resin 3, and the resin solid content attached to said fibers is 50-200wt% to the said fiber. The filter is excellent in fire retardance and water resistance, can be obtained at low cost, and can easily be regenerated and washed.
