Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the apparatus which is capable of saving toner amount, easing the burden of cleaning and sustaining the formation of good images by performing blank exposure to be radiated at the time other than recording operation through radiation of the optimum quantity of light to photoreceptor at the preset aperture value.
CONSTITUTION: The reflected light from the original 2 is reflected by the mirror of a lens 5, passes through the slit 8' of a corona discharger 8 and forms latent images on the photoreceptor. An iris 13 which may be put into and out from the optical path of the lens 5 bent to V-form is provided. The iris 13 is made turnable about an axis 14. In the case of blank exposure, the iris 13 is forced into the optical path and a separately provided knob is operated to set the vignetting amount of the optical path at the specified aperture value through turning of the axis 14. In the case of ordinary exposure, the restraint of the iris 13 is released by moving a moving plate 23 in the F' direction. By making the quantity of light of blank exposure adequate, the toner amount may be saved, cleaning eased and the good image formation sustained.
