Abstract
PURPOSE: To vaporize a large amount of a fumigant instantly, effectively and widely without a risk of a fire, by blending a fumigant with nitrocellulose, followed by heating.
CONSTITUTION: Agents for fumigation, e.g., insecticides, germicides, repellents, are blended with nitrocellulose in an amount as much as that or more of the agents and a fumigatory agent component comprising one or more of both inorganic powder and saccharides. The resulting fumigant is heated indirectly by such means as heating caused by adding water, electric heating, heating through oxidation so that nitrocellulose is decomposed and the agents for fumigation are vaporized. The heat source caused by the reaction of calcium oxide with water is economical and advantageous as a throwaway heat source because of its high heat value. Perlite, diatomaceous earth, talc may be cited as the inorganic powder, serve as an adsorption carrier for the agents and reduce the danger of nitrocellulose.
