Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove fine inclusions from molten metal by a simple means and obtain molten metal of high cleanliness by applying a stream, to the inclusions-contg. molten in a container, which is turned on the vertical axial line of the container by electromagnetic force to allow the inclusions to float.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel M in tundish 13 is poured 14 into mold 8 while applying motion A turning on central axial line l by the action of exciting coil 15. By applying motion A to steel M inclusions whose specific gravity is lower than that of steel M are moved toward the center of tundish 13. During the flotation and the centripetal motion the inclusions are hit against one another and gathered at the center of the surface of steel M while increasing the diameter by adsorption. Thus, steel M contg. fine inclusions alone can be fed 14 into mold 8.
