Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the tensile stress produced in outer layer and eliminate the occurrence of cracking by pouring Nihard cast iron or high chrome base cast iron of abrasion resistance to the outer layer and austenite cast iron which has the coefficient of thermal expansion equivalent to that of the above-mentioned cast irons and has good machineability to the inner layer, respectively.
CONSTITUTION: Nihard cast iron or high chrome base cast iron (e.g. 15% Cr base cast iron) of abrasion resistance is poured to the outer layer and austenite cast iron which has the coefficient of thermal expansion nearly equivalent to that of the above-mentioned cast irons (e.g., 18W19×10-6/°C) and has good machineability is poured to the inner layer, respectively, whereby the double roll is centrifugally cast. According to this method, the tensile stress generated owing to the differences in the coefficients of thermal expansion of the inner and outer layers may be reduced and since cracking hardly occurs, the yield may be improved and the cost reduced.
