CONSTITUTION:A circuit which corrects an error word by information m-bit words W1-Wn, and a check code with an added corresponding bit of a signal generated by processing a corresponding exclusively-OR-ed check signal of information words W1-Wn and the auxiliart matrix of a polynomial is provided with linear feedback shift register 21 as a decoding M-matrix generator and initial data settinh part 20. Setting part 20 sets the initial value of this register 21 to a value, needed to decode data ag or a1 among data a1, a2...ag...am to be decoded or values obtained by reversely shifting those values by one by register 21, and a decoding-signal selective signal is derived from the initial value or a value one-shift behind by register 21 to output data in the order of data ag, am, am-1...ag+1, ag-1, ag-1...a2, and a1 or reversely.
