NEW MATERIAL:2-Aroylformyl substituted pyrrole derivatives of formula I (R is H, alkyl, aryl; X is alkyl, alkyloxy, halogen).
EXAMPLE: 5-p-Methylbenzoyl-2-formyl-1-methylpyrrole.
USE: Synthetic precursor of 1-methyl-5-aroylpyrrole-2-acetic acid, an anti-inflammatory agent.
PREPARATION: The reaction between a 2-aroylpyrrole derivative of formula I, e.g., 2-benzoylpyrrole, and an adduct of dimethylformamide with phosphorus oxychloride is conducted at -10W40°C to give the compound of formula I.
