Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the title steel plate excellent in coating, baking, and curing properties by a method wherein cold-rolled steel plate consisting of specific composition such as C, Mn, Cr, etc. is continuously annealed in temperature range of points A1-A3, is cooled at a cooling rate of specific pattern to provide a good shaping workability. CONSTITUTION:To produce a title steel plate for use as material for automobilie body panel, etc., a cold rolled steel is made to contain C: 0.02-0.2%, Mn: 0.8- 2.5%, Cr: 0.2-1.5%, and acid soluble Al: 0.05% or less (specific amount of one or more of elements such as Si, P, Nb, Mo, V, etc. as needed). Such cold-rolled steel plate is continuously annealed at a proper temperature in the range of A1-A3 modification point, is cooled to 300-350 deg.C at a cooling rate of about 1-30 deg.C/s, then is rapidly cooled from that temperature to room temperature at cooling rate higher than 100 deg.C/s. This heat treatment, which is easier than conventional method, provides a good shaping work property and excellent baking-curing property, ensuring enough strength as vehicle body panel.
