Abstract

PURPOSE: To operate a suction equipment of a 4-stroke internal combustion engine in low load by keeping the velocity of the swirl as high as possible produced in a combustion chamber with less velocity loss of mixture flowing through a throttle valve of a carbureter, an auxiliary throttle valve which closes a suction opening only in low load, and an air vent.
CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary throttle valve 18 which closes a suction passage only in low load is provided in the way from throttle valves 1b, 1c of a carbureter 1 to a suction port 7. The suction passage 15 between those throttle valves is communicat- ed 24 with an air vent 23 which opens by the suction port and is directed towards a combustion chamber. In a cylinder head 4, the communication passage 24 is laid approximately parallel with the suction passage 15 and aside from the axis of the cylinder in a straight line. The suction passage 5 bents as nearing the suction valve 10. The oening of the suction passage near the suction valve 10 is directed towards the combustion chamber 10 so that the bending may reduce the velocity loss.
