Abstract

PURPOSE: An organic solid phosphite compound having improved water resistance, comprising a nitrogen-free organic phosphite compound and a specific pyridine compound.
CONSTITUTION: An organic solid phosphite compound consisting of 100 wt % a nitrogen-free organic phosphite compound, e.g., tetrastearyl-bisphenol A-diphosphite, etc., which is solid and has a melting point of 30 to 200°C, and 0.01 to 10 wt % a pyridine compound of the formula (1). As the pyridine compound of the formual (1), 4-benzoyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl pyridine may be cited. The phosphite compound is applicable as an antioxidant for organic materials which are liable to thermal oxidation decomposition, e.g., synthetic polymers, natural rubber, hydrocarbon oils, etc..
