Abstract

PURPOSE: The molten metal exitted from converter is in vacuum decarburized and followed by Al addition to reduce C content and to regulate (O) content thereby providing excellent steel for use as enamelling steel.
CONSTITUTION: The smelted molten steel in the converter is decarburized in vacuum to the degree of C is less than 0.02%. Al is added to the steel to regulate oxygen content in the range of 100 to 400 ppm. The further regulation is made on the content of included material such as FeO, Al2O3, SiO2, MnO, etc. in order to provide the steel with increased hydrogen occlusion capacity. The resulted steel ingot is rolled to produce steel plates to be used for enamelled steel. Because of less carbon content and the presence of hydrogen occlusion material inclusion, the steel can be fired with coated enamel material without causing bubbles, blisters, temperature strain, etc. The resulting enamelled steel plate has no surface defects such as pinhole, sliver, etc.
