Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the dehydratic performance by rotating a press member provided in a separator body at a speed different from that of a basket also provided therein, so that a compression force is generated between the basket and press member, which compression force is applied to a material to be dehydrated.
CONSTITUTION: A material to be dehydrated is fed from the upper portion of a feed pipe 5 into a bottom portion 2c of a basket 2. When a motor is then driven, rotary shafts MS1, MS2 are rotated at different speeds and the material is accelerated in the circumferential direction from the bottom portion 2c and lower portion 2a of the rotating basket 2 so as to be moved gradually in the upward direction along the inner surface of the lower portion 2a thereof. While the material is thus moved in the upward direction, it is dehydrated by the centrifugal force. The material is further upwardly moved along an upper portion 2b of the basket 2, where a compressing force is applied thereto since the rotational speeds of the basket 2 and press member 6 are different and since the press member 2 is deformed substantially elliptically. The material is thus further dehydrated.
