Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a light-colored, tasty palm oil economically, in high yield, without environmental pollution, by carrying out the decoloring stage in the steam refining process under specific temperature conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Acid-treated palm oil is decolored by heating at ≥100°C under reduced pressure in the presence of a decolorizing agent, cooled to ≤70°C, reheated at 90-100°C to reduce the viscosity of the decolored oil, separated from the solid matter by filtration optionally after breaking the vacuum, and finally subjected to the steam distillation under reduced pressure to obtain the objective purified palm oil.
