Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an electric discharge machine to conduct processing with an extremly high accuracy by positioning on a couple ( or a pair) of members and also by setting the wire electrode contacting position. CONSTITUTION:A pair of supporting arms 18, 19 are attached to a column 17 standing in up-right position on a machine base 3. A wire electrode is sent out through a guide 20 provided at free end of one supporting arm 18 and retrieved through a guide 21 provided at free end of the other supporting arm 19. A pair of positioning supporting arms 25, 26, which have wire electrode positioning members 27, 28 at respective free ends, are arranged between the aforementioned pair of supporting arms 18 and 19. Position of the aforementioned wire electrode 2 is decided by bringing it in contact with these positioning member 27, 28 and the electric discharge wire cutting process takes place between these positioning members 27, 28. By utilization of the aforementioned positioning members 27, 28, relative positions (or locations) of the wire electrode 5 and a work 1 can be maintained properly at all times whereby wire cutting electric discharge processing of the work can be achieved with high accuracy.
