Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a transformer from the trouble in a circuit breaker, by providing current transformers to detect the currents flowing through two adjacent taps of tap windings coupled to vacuum bulbs and by detecting an abnormal current or an abnormal energizing time period to trip the transformer.
CONSTITUTION: When the taps are completely short-circuited to each other due to the trouble in the bulb V1 or V2, the short-circuit is detected by the current transformer CT1 or CT2. At that time, an overcurrent relay H1 or H2 is energized and an auxiliary relay X1 operates to trip the transformer to protect it. When the bulb V3 develops a trouble, overcurrent relays L1, L2 are operated by the sort-circuit current of the bulb. Simultaneously, overcurrent relay contacts L1', L2' are closed and a timer T is energized. If the current remains flowing after the set time t of the timer T, an auxiliary contact T' is closed and an auxiliary relay X2 is energized to close an auxiliary contact X2', which constitutes the trip circuit for the transformer. Thereby, the transformer is protected by simple circuits from all troubles.
