Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a higly loaded flame-resistant sealing compound having improved processability, and on-site applicability, by incorporating (A) a master batch of liquid chloroprene polymer having terminal hydroxyl groups and hydrated alumina with (B) an inorganic filler.
CONSTITUTION: A master batch comprising 100W300 parts by wt. of an inorganic filler and 100 parts by wt. of a liquid chloroprene polymer having one or more terminal hydroxyl groups in the molecule on the average and a number-average molecular weight of 1,000W6,000 is incorporated with an inorganic filler at 50W 120°C to give a highly loaded flame-retardant sealing compound comprising 450W 700 parts by wt. of the filler wherein at least 50 parts by wt. is hydrated alumina. The liquid chloroprene polymer having improved mixing property with the inorganic filler can be readily loaded with the filler to the extent of 300 parts by wt. to give a blend of high fluidity. Heating of the blend at 50W120°C provides a highly loaded blend.
