Abstract

PURPOSE:To separate and recover N2 free purified H2 gas usable as raw material for methanol synthesis, etc. by washing N2-contg. H2 gas with liquid CO to remove the N2. CONSTITUTION:H2 gas 10 contg. N2 and CO is cooled 1 to -120--20 deg.C and introduced into vapor-liquid separator 2. N2-contg. H2 gas separated by separator 2 is fed to washing tower 3, where it is washed with liquid CO 18 as a distillate in distilling column 4 to obtain purified H2 gas 14 contg. little N2. On the other hand, liquid CO separated by separator 2 and the washing liquid in tower 3 are passed through conduits 13, 15 and reduced to a desired press. with reducing valves 7, 8, respectively. They are then introduced into column 4 and distilled to take out N2 gas 19 from the system. Liquid CO 16 as a distillate in column 4 is raised to a desired press. with booster 6. Part of the CO is then discharged 20 from the system through conduit 17, and the remainder is supplied 18 to tower 3 as washing liquid.
