Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect the rotational direction of a rotary body, while reducing the cost, with the use of a simple construction by using a rotational direction detecting generator which is operative to generate such an AC voltage having symmetrical waveforms as has its positive and negative peak values reversed in accordance with the rotational direction of the rotary body.
CONSTITUTION: The output terminals X and Y of asymmetric waveform generator 10 of rotary magnet type are connected in parallel with positive and negative voltage detecting circuits 16 and 22, which are composed of a diode and a charging capacitor. A comparing amplifier 24 compares the respective output voltages of the detecting circuits 16 and 22 to generate compared output signals. In case, for instance, the rotary magnet 28 of the asymmetrical waveform generator 10 is turned in the direction of arrow A, positive and negative voltages are alternately generated at the output terminal X and Y of the generator 10. However, a negative output voltage is generated between the output terminals Z-Y of the comparing amplifier 24. In case the rotary magnet 28 is turned in the direction of arrow B, a positive output voltage is generated at the output terminal of the amplifier 24 to make it possible to detect that the rotational direction is reversed.
