Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize high density recording of less crosstalks and at the same time increase the mechanical strength of the track part of heads for contacting and sliding by applying magnetic shielding by a magnetic material by way of a non-magnetic material to side faces of cores. CONSTITUTION:A non-magnetic material 8 whose thickness 10 is about 1 to several times the gap length 11 is secured to both side faces af the recording-reproducing gap 2 of cores 3, 3' and further a ferromagnetic material 9 is secured to the outside thereof. The magnetic materials 9 and 3, 3' form a gap with the non-agnetic mateials 8 in-between and the magnetic fluxes having leaked from the side faces of the gap at the writing pass the magnetic bodies 9 and therefore they hardly reach the surface of the recording medium. Since the direction of the magnetic fluxes of the gap becomes perpendicular to the relative movement direction 12 of the cores and recording medium, the magnetization of the medium surface by this gap hardly affect the reproduction signal even if it occurs. Further the magnetic fluxes generated from the portions protruding from the right under the core at the reading pass the magnetic materials 9 without passing the gap 2 and therefore crosstalk noise is hardly reproduced.
