Abstract

PURPOSE: To relieve the deformation resistance of the steel strip in the rolls of the pipe former so as to prevent the tearing of strip on purpose to continuously manufacture the forge welded pipe.
CONSTITUTION: When a difference above 1 mm exists between the sheet gauges of preceding steel strip A and succeeding steel strip B in manufacture of the forge welded pipe, one or more kinds of steel strips C with intermediate sheet gauge are interposed between two strips A and B on purpose to stepwise make under 1 mm the gauge difference; and then, these strips are successively jointed according to the flash butt welding. The length of these intermediate strips C is preferably settled equally to the distance from the forming roll to the middle point of pipe forming rolls. According to this method, the deformation resistance of strips in the pipe forming rolls is relieved; and the control on the heating temperature for the thin gauge strip A and thick gauge strip B can be optimized by utilizing the time of passage of the intermediate strips C, so that the activity rate of manufacture of the forge welded pipe is improved.
