Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain metal or alloy magnetic powder withstandable deterioration of magnetic characteristics with time by the procedure in which a metal (alloy) magnetic powder is dispersed into a solution amino-modified silicon oil in toluene, filtered, and dried.
CONSTITUTION: An amino-modified silicon oil is dissolved in toluene to make up a 0.5 to 3 % solution. Then, a metal or an alloy such as reduced iron, etc., is dispersed into the solution, then filtered, and dried. With this method, amino group serves as a strong adsorption force for the metal surface which enables the silicon oil film having a water-repellent effect to adhere strongly to the surface of magnetic powder. Even after it is used in magnetic tape, no destruction of film takes place and also no blooming is observed.
