Abstract

PURPOSE:To control excess amplitude, protect the speaker against over-input and prevent damaging by additionally providing shorted auxiliary coils on the voice coil bobbin of the electro-dynamic type speaker. CONSTITUTION:A cone 1 and spider 4 are secured to the top end part of the bobbin 2 wound with a voice coil 3. The circumferential part of the spider 4 is secured to a frame 9 to form the vibrating system of the speaker. Auxiliary coils 10-1, 10-2 of 1 to several turns separate from the voice coil 3 are wound to both edges of the voice coil 3 on the abovementioned bobbin 2, with the respective coil ends being shorted. The additional provision of the auxiliary coils in this way causes the bobbin 2 to receive electromagnetic braking and excess vibrations to be controlled by the mutual action of the current and magnetic field induced in the auxiliary coils when the vertical amplitudes of the bobbins 2 become excessive owing to the over-input to the voice coil 3 and the auxiliary coils 10-1, 10-2 enter the magnetic field of the magnetic circuit 6 consisting of the magnets 8 and yoke 7.
