Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording disc which is superior in S/N ratio, is suitable as a record press original disc and records information through laser working by forming three layer composite films laminated with an underlying metal film, gold film and nickel film in this order on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:An underlying nickel film (chromium or titanium is equally well) 7 of about 50 to 400 Angstrom in thickness, a gold film 8 of about 400 to 2000 Angstrom in thickness and a nickel film 9 of about 100 to 400 Angstrom in thickness are laminated and deposited on a substrate 1 by a vacuum evaporation method, sputtering method or other to form the recording disc. Laser light is focused and radiated onto the above recording disc to allow the layers 7, 8, 9 of these portions to evaporate and fly off, thereby forming bits 3 and recording information. This information recording disc is higher in S/N ratio at the writing and reading by about 25 to 30 decibels as compared to that of ordinary ones using bismuth films. In addition, the entire film thickness may be made to a desired thickness by changing the thickness of the gold film and therefore the film thicknesses of about 1000 to 1600 Angstrom required as the original disc for video discs, etc. may be readily achieved.
