Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic tape of thin thickness, large Young's modulus and mechanical strength and less wrinkle or the like by providing reinforcing layer including acicular crystal oxalate on one or both sides of non-magnetic film provided with magnetic recording layer.
CONSTITUTION: A reinforcing layer 3 including acicular crystal oxalate is formed on one or both sides of nonmagnetic film 1 provided with magnetic recording layer 2. Preferable oxalate, for example, includes oxalate of CO, Fe or Mn having 10 or more acicular ration, less than 1μ of short axis diameter. 7%-aqueous oxalic acid solution and 1%-aqueous cobalt chloride are, for example, reacted at room temperature.
