Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture inexpensive lead alloy for insoluble anode which is excellent in mechanical strength, anodic potential stability, and corrosion resistance by the procedure in which a fixed amount of Fe3O4 powder of a specific grain size range is dispersed into a molten lead alloy containing a small amount of silver and then the alloy is cast.
CONSTITUTION: The 0.5 to 5 wt% Fe3O4 powder of a 80 to 10 mesh grain size are added to a molten lead alloy containing 0.1 to 5.0 wt% silver with stirring for uniform dispersion. In this case, the relation between the amount and the coarse grain size of Fe3O4 powder to be added is regulated so as to be within the range surrounded by the points A, B, C, D, and E, preferably within the range surrounded by the points A', B', C', D', and E'.
