Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the brightnesses of the right and left object images equal even when the specimen is a light polarization type object by specifying the disposition of polarizers and analyzers and using 1/4 wavelength plates.
CONSTITUTION: Right and left polarizers 13 are disposed with their vibrating directions being made the same. Analyzers 18 are disposed orthogonal to the polarizers, and 1/4 wavelength plates 16 are disposed between objective lenses 15 and the specimen 17. As a result, the light from light sources 11 is made to linearly polarized light by the polarizers 13 and is radiated to the sample 17 by way of semi-transparent mirrors 14, 1/4 wavelength plates 16, after which it is reflected and the light from the left side passes through the optical system on the right side and the light from the right side through that on the left side and is observed by way of the analyzers 18 and eyepieces 19. Then, even if the specimen in an objective having polarization characteristic, the lighting light has become circularly polarized light by having transmitted through the 1/4 wavelength plates and therefore the brightnesses of the observation light become the same on the right and left.
