Abstract
PURPOSE: To obviate a molten fuel from having a critical shape by providing a molten fuel holder so that the molten fuel may be held thereby.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided above an entrance nozzle 5 and below a bundle of fuel elements 2 a molten fuel holder 9 which is made of a material having a high melting point and which is formed with a number of longitudinal holes 8. If any accident takes place to increase the output so that the cover pippes of the fuel elements 2 which are accommodated in bundle in a fuel assembly 1 are broken to inject the molten fuel, most of the molten material falls down until it reaches the upper surface of the holder 9. Since the falling molten fuel has little fluidicity, most of it stays on the upper surface of the holder 9.
