Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the subject device wherein the surface of a guide roll arranged in proximity of the raised part of a molten metal plating bath is constituted by a non-metallic material to which no molten metal adheres, thereby to prevent the non- plated surface from being contaminated with molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A metal strip 1 change its direction to the horizontal direction by a guide roll 8 provided in the vicinity of the inlet of a plating device, advancing in the proximity of the plating bath, and comes into contact with the raised part 7, and only the lower surface is plated. The surface layer part 10 of a guide roll 9 arranged in the vicinity thereof for bringing the metal plate into contact with the raised part is constituted by a non-metallic material to which no plating metal adheres. The above mentioned non-metallic material preferably consists of silicon nitride, silicon carbide, carbon, boron niitride or alumina.
